Internet Courses
Internet courses provide most or all of their content outside of the regular classroom via web pages. Often these courses utilize an online course delivery system such as Blackboard. In addition, CD-ROM or web-based textbooks with links to various web sites enhance Internet courses. Internet courses may require some on-site attendance for discussions, proctored tests, quizzes and presentations. Currently Internet courses are offered in Education, English, History, Management, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy and Psychology.
In addition to using Blackboard, instructors may use an outside provider for course content. That is, he or she may choose an online text book or website where students can read, carry out exercises, take tests, etc. Be sure to read the syllabus or talk to your instructor to determine if this is the case. If your instructor is indeed using an outside provider, you may need to get website information, free plug-ins from the Internet or read instructions on how to use the provider’s product or website. If these instructions are not on your Blackboard course, ask your instructor for them.
