What is a Telecourse?
Telecourses are credit courses that are taped presentations delivered to students via television, video cassette, DVD, or online streaming. Telecourses allow students to view most of the lectures at home or the UNO Library at times convenient for them.
Currently UNO offers Telecourses in Education, English, Finance, Geology, and History. Telecourses may require some class attendance but generally entail delivering a large part of the course’s content via television. Students also can check out VHS tapes or DVDs. The Jefferson Center on Causeway Boulevard and the Slidell campus provide access to these and allow for proctored tests. Telecourses often require attendance at one of these centers for testing. Instructors also may require attendance at additional class meetings.
Instructors may use Blackboard to get class materials to their students. Be sure to determine if this is the case. If not, ask your instructor how he/she will deliver materials, tests, homework, etc. to you.
